Adan came to this country in 1970, he began English classes during the day and at night he worked part time cleaning offices for Pan América.
The employees from Pan Am would call Adan “Gaucho”, so they told him “Gaucho you are too smart to just clean offices” why don’t you apply to work with us, but Adan responded “ my English isn’t very good”.
The employees told him that they understood him just fine and invited him to come back the next day and they helped him apply to work there.
Adan was hired to work in the warehouse’s shipping department, when he began working there he noticed the place was in disarray and had no organized systems, no computers and ran very hectically. Adan studied all the parts and numbers that went with each part and designed a color coded system to coincide with each part. No one asked him to do this he just took it upon himself to make it easier for himself and his coworkers to find the parts more efficiently for the airplanes.
This is who Adan was always thinking of innovative ways to help himself and others. The system that he created in 1970 is still being used today in some capacity. Adan went on to work in different departments, with different titles and contributions, specializing in languages he was able to travel the world meeting, helping and training different employees for 35 years where he was respected and held in high regards. Not bad for a “Gaucho” who barely spoke English.
Once Adan retired, himself and his wife Ana decided to move to Florida which he referred to as “the waiting station” this meant he really didn’t want to move here from NJ, but reluctantly he obliged to his Wife’s wishes and they moved to Maitland’s unit 3 in 2005.
Since moving to Maitland’s and meeting so many wonderful people through the years and finding family within the community Adan changed his mind about Florida and even became a singer at the club house and other locations where he could perform his newfound passion in life. For this his family thanks you all for making retirement a happy phase in his life and not the waiting station he thought it would be.
Adan was so enamored with all of you and our community that on his deathbed he made his wife Ana promise not to ever move, and continue to have the safety, support and love they both found here.
